SPEED SOUND MAGAZINE MADRID

speed sound music magazine

It has been a while since my last Music Monday post. But that doesn’t mean we’re not listening to new tunes over here. Just over a week ago I was invited to the launch party of a new music zine, here in Madrid. Speed Sound Magazine is for people who are always looking for something different to listen to; for open-minded, urban music-lovers. In the editor’s own words: “We want you to discover new young bands, especially national ones, and those from our own city. Because there’s so much talent out there, and we’re tired of seeing the same faces on the cover.”

They launched the release of their first issue at one of Madrid’s favorite music locales, Costello Club. Spanish shoegaze bands Stereosaurio and Celica XX pedalled away and offered up plenty of distortion and amorphous guitar riffs to fill the room. And when the night was over, I emerged from the underground club and onto Gran Via with a shiny new publication under my arm.

Music-lovers rejoice; this magazine is a gem! From interviews with Jack Savoretti and The Noises, to a list of what’s playing on the Glass Animals’ iPod, Issue Numero Uno is never fluff. The photography is both stunning and gritty, cover to cover, and Madrid-based bands even take us on a tour of the city via their favorite bars and hangouts.

If you’re looking for new reading material, Speed Sound Magazine might be what you need. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, ditto. Follow them on Facebook & Twitter, check out their Spotify playlist, and write to info@speedsoundmag.com for questions about their next issue and where to get it.
